GARDNER HAPPIER UNDER MARTIN

Sunderland midfielder Craig Gardner has come out with the statement that he is very much happy with life at the Stadium of Light.

The former Birmingham city midfielder was signed by former Sunderland manager Steve Bruce. He has been one of the few bright spots from the Steve Bruce era.

SUNDERLAND PAIR CHARGED BY POLICE

Sunderland footballers Nicklas Bendtner and Lee Cattermole have both been charged with the crime of vandalising the cars parked in the parking lot.

Nicklas Bendtner and Lee Cattermole have experienced the various degrees of mischief during their time at Sunderland. It remains to be seen if Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill will be willing to accept their latest demeanour.

Sunderland defender John O'Shea has said that they should talk a lot more if they are to get anything out of the match against Manchester City.

Manchester City will be coming on the back of a disappointing 0-0 draw with West Brom, who have become one of the few sides in the division to stop Manchester city from scoring.

New Sunderland manager Martin O’Neill is aiming to take his side to the final of the FA Cup for the first time in 20 years after cruising to the 4th round of the competition with a well deserved victory against Championship side Peterborough United.

The Black Cats will take on another Championship side in Middlesbrough Football Club in the 4th round in a local derby, a match that will not be as easy as the one in their previous round.

SUNDERLAND DENY RICHARDSON EXIT REPORTS

Martin O’Neill, the new manager of Sunderland, has denied tabloid claims that Arsenal have been in touch over midfielder Kieran Richardson, with a view to bringing the player to the Emirates Stadium during the winter transfer window.

According to the latest reports, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is keen to bring the former Manchester United player to Arsenal during the current transfer window and has already made enquiries about the availability of the player.

BRUCE ON THE BRINK

Sunderland manager Steve Bruce is fast becoming the bookie's favourite for the first manager to be fired this season, after becoming a target for fans in the North of England.

Steve Bruce has overseen one of the worst Premier League campaigns for Sunderland, as they lie perilously close to the drop zone - they are just two points ahead of 18th placed Bolton Wanderers, the last place for relegation into the Championship. Sunderland have been in the Premier League since Roy Keane brought them back from the Championship back in 2008.

CHOPRA REVEALS BETTING LOSSES

Sunderland old-boy Michael Chopra has revealed that he has accumulated as much as £2m in gambling losses over the years, having admitted that he has an addiction.

He has spent the last few weeks (apart from match days) in the Sporting Chance clinic which deals with addictions in sportsmen - generally caused because when footballers turn professional they find themselves with a lot of time on their hands, and a lot of money in their pockets.

Chopra also revealed that he has been forced to move clubs to cover his gambling debts - he needed the signing on fees to pay off his bookmakerr.

SUNDERLAND SUFFERING FROM MENTAL BLOCK

The main reason for the poor form of Sunderland has to be their "mental" block.

Keeper Simon Mignolet has revealed the winless run and tumble down the table has become a burden, and that the squad is "down" about the bad form. Now many Sunderland fans have even started placing free bets against the team, so they are happy either way!

The Belgian No1, a rare performer is convinced Sunderland can achieve their hopes of a top ten finish or better, but a revival must start at Birmingham this weekend.

MILIBAND TO JOIN SUNDERLAND

Former Foreign Secretary David Miliband could become the new secretary of Sunderland after he is in talks with the club. The defeated Labour leadership contender is in discussions with Sunderland over a non-executive post.

He would focus on international and community work, a club spokesman said.

Mr Miliband was also reported to have pitched TV ideas to the BBC and is set to become a volunteer politics teacher at his local school in North London.

A poor Sunderland side were defeated against an impressive Wolves side. It spared the Wolves chairman the embarrassment of calling McCarthy to account only days after allowing the chief executive Jez Moxey to respond to unhappy fans by reaffirming their backing for their under-fire employee.
